North Whatcom County Fire and Rescue Supports Charity Event

Bellingham, WA - December 5, 2011  Whatcom County Fire District 4 Firefighters Association (WCFD#4 FA) in conjunction with North Whatcom County Fire and Rescue (NWFR) have a long history of supporting Whatcom County Project Santa Claus, an annual Whatcom County program that benefits nearly 300 children.  Local law enforcement officers and firefighters unite to gather and distribute food, toys, clothing and other necessities to families who are truly in need.  The tremendous success of this program is due to the generosity of all the members of this community who selflessly donate each year.

          As in the past, Whatcom County Fire District 4 and North Whatcom Fire and Rescue firefighters and fire trucks will escort Santa through our parts of the District on Saturday, December 17^th, 2011.  We have attached our schedule of stops so please check Santa’s schedule to see where and when he will stop to visit while collecting donations.  The growth of this event is bringing out more and more people each year; in order to keep us on schedule we ask that you gather at one of the stops in your neighborhood or come to our Britton Loop Station #12 at the end of the day to donate.  The safety of you and your family is always a concern during this event and by gathering at the signs it helps keep the kids from running out from their yards to meet our trucks.

          While deciding what to donate, here are some guidelines to keep in mind:  we are looking to collect toys, coats, clothing and books – keep in mind that donations go to older kids’ as well as the young ones.  Food donations must be non-perishable and not expired.  Cash donations are especially useful as needs of individual families may not be filled unless purchases are made.  Unlike in the the past, we cannot accept used items.
